7 inch Iron Vase

We have partnered with a foundry in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts to craft these beautiful hand made iron vases. The pattern for the vase is placed in a flask and the sand is hand filled around it to make the mold. The mold is poured with iron at about 2700 degrees Fahrenheit and allowed to cool before the casting is removed. Each vase is then worked by hand on the bench to create the final shape and a patina is applied to color it before final baking with a sealing coat to protect it. Every vase is a little bit different and weighs about 5 pounds. They are intended to convey the organic and enduring nature of iron and art.
